The aim of the Victorian Agricultural Shows (VAS) Rural Ambassador Award is to encourage and reward Victorian youth that are actively involved with their local communities. By assisting entrants to develop strong communication and leadership skills and encourage them to become role models for thier local communities. Open to entrants over 20 and under 30 years as of the 1st May in the year of the State Final.
Judging is based on an interview and speech encompassing the following:
Berrigan is part of the Goulburn Valley Riverina Shows Association (GVRSA) Group for the Rural Ambassador Award. Enterants are judged at local level, the winner then goes on to compete in the GVRSA Group level in Shepparton, early May. One winner is selected from the 12 affiliated GVRSA show societies to go on and represent GVRSA in the State Final, in September at the Royal Melbourne Show along with 12 other Group representatives.
